KULEANA
In this world, we have choices. These choices reflect our purpose in life, as well as the energies that we are able to harness and focus to manifest our dreams and visions. Often times, we find ourselves swept away in the currents of life, across the reefs of reality, or onto the soft, warm beaches of sand and sun … the consequences of the wind, an outside force. Or we take responsibility for our own direction, setting the paddles deep into the water in order to redirect the forces of nature. This is kuleana: responsibility. This is steering our own canoe … our own body … in our chosen direction across the ocean of aloha.
KOKUA
When the forces of nature are too strong for us to handle alone, then we can call out to the people who surround us, the people with strength of character, with strong will power, with deep feelings of aloha. We can ask for kokua: assistance. We ask with humility.
They can lend a helping hand to us when we need it. Without our asking for their help, they cannot break their protocol and ease our karma. Karma? That my friend, is the direction that we spoke about. Is the steering of the canoe under your control? Are you the steersman of your own life?
IMAGES OF ALOHA
Images of an alternative lifestyle will be offered on this site in different locations and categories. These images may help us to express our feelings and thoughts … as they evolve. In one lifetime, we may be able to live multiple lifelines. This is an example of a concept called parallel evolution. Time expands and our perception of that reality may also enlarge to include multiple possibilities. Within your focus. Within the circle of your awareness. The circle of our awareness includes the islands of Hawai’i across the ocean of aloha. Here are the skies of our ancestors, the lands of our kupuna, the waters of our children and the breath of our descendants.
ALOHA
Aloha is a necessary element of the lifestyle of the wahine lomi (female lomilomi) and kanaka lomi (male lomilomi) within the boundaries of the islands of Hawai’i. It connects us to the mana or spiritual power of the piko; the piko is the place where the lava erupts from within the bosom of Pele. This outpouring of aloha is accompanied by a display of the earthbeat, where the pulse of creation beats strongly across the Pacific Ocean. Tutu Pele is demonstrating her ability to transform our island.
TOUCH OF ALOHA
Keep in touch with this site: we will continue to add galleries of images, videos, podcasting, and written content about the lifestyles of Big Island healers, teachers, voyagers, dancers, students and the ohana. People, places, companions, pets, food and cultural pursuits are all on the growing list.
MAHALO NUI LOA
Yesterday, we were there. Today, we are here. Tomorrow, we may be anywhere … . Thank you very much!
